A Day in the Life of the Red Hawk Inn An Open Roleplay with Ingrid Bergstrom Located at the Red Hawk Inn of Valdim City May 1st Morning, 8:00 AM
It had been a week since the Red Hawk Inn opened, and since then Ingrid has been getting to know the strange and unusual folk. By this time, she’s almost seen most of the races that traffic the city and made mental notes on how to deal with each one. Many had human-like qualities, aside from other… significant things.
Her best customers were typically the giants. They were gentle and kind folk a lot of the time, and she enjoyed conversation. That, and Ingrid knew better than to make a giant unhappy.
Vampires and werewolves were a tough crowd when they were together in the same place most of the time, but a little pig’s blood soup and juicy t-bone steak never failed to pacify them until she had them take the fight outside. What they were scuffling about was none of her business, and she won’t have any of it at her inn. Besides, she had the guts to stand in the middle of a fight and break it off. “If you guys wanna fight, either take me on, or take it outside!” was her typical threat. Most calmed down or went outside, but one person was dumb enough to test her patience.
That was the second day of her stay in Monstreial, but after that, things were quiet. The inn was a place of rest, after all, although the tavern tends to be filled more than the rooms would be.
It was now the seventh day of the week. She had already cleaned the inn and made it look its best, so she therefore took to the diner to make breakfast. As the layout of the inn looked, the lobby and diner were in the same place, so if someone wanted to order food or request a room to stay in, they could do both. A staircase led to the guest rooms, but Ingrid didn't go up there unless she had to clean up after a patron. Rather, her bedroom was located behind a bookcase by the lobby desk, only accessible to her because of a unique magical lock that changes every time she locks it. She didn't need to worry about a key since she can produce a new one to conform to the new locks. That was probably the most convenient thing she had used her power for aside from construction.
In any case, Ingrid got to work on cooking. The kitchen tools weren't made from her (as most people would find it unsettling that she uses her blood for metal crafting), but bought from the local business to support the businesses and build rapport for herself. The food was simple for the most part, but it was delicious. Ingrid took care in researching various recipes and techniques to appease any customer she'd have. She wasn't one to discriminate, but to accommodate, so that no monster be left behind.
Gorgeous, kind, and thoughtful. What more could you ask from an innkeeper?
In a little less than a couple hours, Ingrid had her ingredients together for breakfast. For regular feeders, pancakes, eggs, and bacon; for meat eaters, cornbeef hash with T-bone steak; for vampires, a blood sausage made from the blood of boars. Other side dishes would be available for those who wish to be fed with a little more than what is offered. Everything was to be cooked to order, fresh off of the stove or oven.
With a little excited skip in her step, Ingrid moved to the window and flipped the "Diner Closed" sign to "Diner Open," and then retreated back behind the lobby desk to work out the numbers for her current patrons resting within the inn.

As the once quiet streets of Valdim filled with noise from the inhabitants of the city. A young woman clad in black walked down a busy street. Two swords sheathed one at each of her sides, a look of displeasure on her pretty face. Her black hair waving slightly with each step she took. Her cold dark eyes looked at a piece of paper she held in her hand. Two address of a local Inn as well as the job that she had taken on a few days ago. Her mind awash with the objective of her job and a chill running down her spine at the excitement of the prospects. Turning a corner the young woman came to one of the addresses on the paper she held in her hands. A sign in the window "Diner Open" only gave her more of a reason to enter the building. She had been so busy with preparing for this new job that she had almost forgotten to eat. Without a moments hesitation the young woman opened the door to the Red Hawk Inn.
As she entered the building she noticed right off a small desk that a young woman was behind. The lobby was big and a few chairs were placed about the area. Her nose caught the smell of freshly cooked food and her mouth watered at the mere thought of how delicious it would be. Taking a few short steps to the desk she spoke to the woman behind the desk. "Excuse me ma'am, I'd like to rent a room for a few days and have some breakfast." the woman stated.
Sliding the piece of paper into her pocket only to produce some coins to pay for the room and food.

It didn't take too long for a customer to roll in. That was kind of nice.
Ingrid looked up as the woman came in and greeted her with a pretty, gracious smile, "Oh, welcome to the Red Hawk Inn, my dear!" She reached into a compartment in the desk and pulled out a small, laminated flyer concerning the inn's times and price fluctuation. It was something she had printed and copied at a nearby postage center for a surprisingly cheap price. The flyer lacked details of food, since it was different menu each day of the week.
The innkeeper placed the flyer on the counter and opened it to the pricing page, "Here... it's a slow season, so it's rather cheap to rent right now." She also pointed to the menu above the kitchen entrance, "Ah, yes, and if you'd like to eat, please take a gander at my menu! I'm only offering breakfast, as you wanted, but no lunch or dinner until later."

The young woman looked at the paper that was placed before her and was glad to hear that the rent of rooms was cheap right now, not that money was a problem most of the time. Her dark eyes glanced at the menu of food and decided that eggs and bacon was just what she needed to fill her empty belly.
"How much for the room and food?" the woman asked as she clinched the coins in her hand.
The mouth watering smell of fresh food only made this mercenary even more hungry. She wanted to eat as soon as possible. Her stomach betraying her calm and distant appearance as it growled aloud. The young woman didn't change anything in the way she spoke to the woman at the desk again.
"I'd like some eggs and bacon please." she said calmly as she continued to hear her stomach make noise as it longed for food.

"It's about 40 pieces for a small room with all the essentials, per night," Ingrid replied with a nod, she turned the flyer over, "However, I'm offering a luxury deal that includes a bigger room, room service, and two free meal coupons on any of the meal times during the day. It's about 55 pieces, 15 pieces more than the standard. All my meals run at about 10 pieces..." She paused as the customer's belly started growling audibly. How pitiful! Perhaps she needed a little more than just bacon and eggs.
"Are you sure about just eggs and bacon?" asked Ingrid with a small giggle, "Wouldn't you like to have a full breakfast? Your stomach sounds like the earth when it groans. Ohoho!" Dry. Very dry. "Have a seat, dear. We'll work out the numbers a little later." She shrugged her shoulders casually, "Who knows, if you're a good girl, I'll cut you a little deal." She always did like to gain fame by being a little generous.
With that, she motioned for her to sit on a chair as she headed to the kitchen.

The young woman didn't like it when her stomach growled from hunger. As she listened to the woman at the desk talk about the prices of the rooms and food when she heard the Inn Keeper tell her to have a seat. With a wry smile the young woman took a seat as the woman went to the kitchen. With a heavy sigh, the mercenary pulled out the piece of paper with the addresses on it and looked at the second address. Her job was to find someone and either bring them to who hired her unharmed or slightly bruised. This wasn't the first time this mercenary had taken on a job like this and she was sure that she could get the job done it was only a matter of looking for the target and getting the job done now. After a short silence, the door of the Inn opened again, a few men had walked in and headed right for the kitchen. The mercenary put the paper back in her pocket and waited in silence with her swords still attached to her sides.

As soon as she had entered the kitchen, Ingrid went to work. She pulled a pack of bacon and a couple eggs from the refrigerator, put a pan on the stove and turned it up on high. As she did this, she gave a short pause. How silly of her! She had forgotten to ask how the woman would've liked her bacon and eggs. She was about to turn and look out toward the diner when some gentlemen stood at the doorway in plain sight. Guests weren't allowed in the kitchen, so this was a little unusual.
They appeared to be the delinquent types, some hiding their hands in their pockets. Of course, Ingrid couldn't tell what kind of species they were without some additional information.
"Gentlemen!" Ingrid said cheerfully, she cleared her throat and motioned her hand for them to leave, "I'm afraid the kitchen is off-limits to guests. Would you please wait outside in the diner? I'll be sure to help you boys as soon as..." Her voice fell at the sound of a click.
She knew that noise. That noise brought a lot of bad memories in.
A small handgun was pointed at her with one of them motioning a hand to her safe. Ingrid let out a grunt of disgust, "Oh, come ON. It's just the morning. BROAD DAYLIGHT. Couldn't you pick a time when just about ANYONE could walk in?"
"We locked the front door. Boss says pay up or pay down."
"Oh, my..." Ingrid breathed as the temperature in the room started to rise, "That simply won't do, lads. I don't even know what pay down means." Steam started to emanate from her, and her exhaling distorted the air. "If it means 'you upset me,' then you did a fine job."
Another of the men had noted the woman sitting at the table. This one had a revolver. "'Oy, you! Hand over your gold and you'll live to see breakfast."

The mercenary wasn't going let these men get away with this. Lucky for her they seemed to have not noticed that she had swords which would give her an advantage. When she made no move to put her gold the table she sat at, the man with the revolved came to stand in front of the table, the gun aimed right at her. The young woman had dealt with guns and other weapons aimed at her before, this wasn't anything new to her. Without warning she pushed the table hard into the man, making him drop the revolver to the flood of the diner. Swiftly she unsheathed one of her two swords, the polished blade had been well taken care of. The man stared at her, his eyes wide with surprise, he didn't know that she was a mercenary and that was all the more reason to prove to him that just because she was a woman didn't mean she couldn't fight and defend herself against men like them. The sound of the revolver hitting the floor made the other men look in her direction.
"You boys would do well to drop your weapons and leave this Inn quietly or would you rather leave in bags?" the mercenary asked, a devilish grin on her face as if she wanted them to fight against her.

The men who became distracted by the woman gave Ingrid the opportunity to step forward. She took hold of the man before her by his wrist. A searing sound was heard, and the man shrieked in shock and pain as he dropped his handgun.
"Oh, no, my dear," Ingrid hissed, veins appeared on her face as her voice slowly reached a crescendo, "It's a bit too late to leave quiet-LYYYYYYY!!!!" Her voice became guttural as she collided her heated fist into the man's jaw. He flew out of the kitchen and landed atop a table with the wind knocked out of him. The other two men were knocked over, but they managed to get back to their feet. Ingrid stepped forward, picked the handgun from the ground, ejected the magazine and removed the loaded bullet, then bit down on the end. The burning furnace of her mouth caused the handgun to burn and melt the firearm into a molten liquid that trickled down her throat. "I shay we bury 'em in the backyahd!" yelled Ingrid through clenched teeth.

The mercenary unsheathed her other sword as she grinned devilish at the other two men. She was impressed with what the Inn Keeper could do. She licked the polished blade, her tongue lightly bled as she stared at the men. This was proving to be a very interesting day after all.
"Let's have a little fun, shall we?" The young woman took a step forward as her blood boiled and her bones began to crack as her want to change into her wolf form rose within her.
Her dark eyes seemed to change slightly as she felt the popping on her bones. The wolf inside wanted out and she was going to let it if the fight would drag out a bit.

Ingrid swallowed the gun handle and snorted, "Believe me, dear, I'm not doing this for fun. This is self-defense." Silvery liquid dripped from the palm of her hand, and as it did she flipped her arm about, allowing the liquid to coagulate and harden. What covered her hand now was a heavy-looking stump. A make-shift blunt weapon.
She didn't plan on a long battle with a simple thug, so she proceeded forward. Her opponent drew his own firearm from his sweater and attempted to shoot her in the chest. To his dismay, his shots bounced off, as her chest was covered in a steel sheet. He attempted to back away, but he bumped into a counter.
"Ugh! That was VERY inappropriate!" Ingrid huffed angrily. She heaved her armored arm forward and slammed it into his chest, throwing him over the side and onto the ground. She then super-heated her arm, allowing the steel piece to slide off and land on his chest.

The mercenary went after the last man, she didn't give the man time to get out the gun he had hidden in his shirt. Her blade came down upon him. Though she wanted to shed blood there was no need for her to kill the man. At the final second, the young woman turned her sword around with one quick movement of her wrist and slammed the butt of her sword into the man's face.
*crunch*
The man's nose twisted to the side as it broke from the hard hit of the sword. As he fell backward, the mercenary followed him, only allowing her blade to touch the man's throat as she knelt over him. The wolf within wanted out badly now but she couldn't and wouldn't let it out even though she really wanted to. The time would come when she could let her wild side out and then she could sate the blood thirst she had at the moment. The man below her held his nose and groaned in pain but didn't dare move for fear of being killed by her. It was a pleasant sight to see, a grown man to afraid of her.

As the other woman stood over the last man standing, Ingrid came around the side of the countertop. As much as she would've liked to end their miserable lives, she had a reputation to upkeep. The blood that was splattered about needed to be swept up as soon as possible, but first things first -- her customer looked like she was about to devour her opponent.
The innkeeper started breathing deeply to calm her nerves. The steam would disappear, and the heat that emanated from her body would cool down. When it did, the air conditioning returned the room to a normal temperature.
"Calm down, young lady," said Ingrid, she looked to the customer with a look of disapproval, she approached her and motioned for her to move, "Move aside and let me deal with him. Sit down. Please."

Though the mercenary would've loved to have ended the man's life it wasn't her call. With a slight nod to the Inn Keeper, she went back to her table and set it up right and sat back down in her chair. She crossed her arms over her chest and closed her eyes and as she calmed herself down and waited for the Inn Keeper to do her thing. The feeling of her wolf clawing to get out was going to take a little time to calm down, she had to focus and not allow it to break through.
Her thoughts turned to memories of peace, memories that she hardly remembered as it was. Being a mercenary didn't allowed her much time to have peace, always being on the job was hard and days off weren't all that common for her.

As her guest sat back down, Ingrid went to work. She dragged the three unconscious men toward the door, but as she approached the last man, steam rose once again from her head. She grabbed the man forcefully by his arms, threw him over her head and sat him down on a seat.
"You," she said, "You will tell your imaginary boss that I don't approve of his methods, and that if he sends another bunch of you again to my doorstep, I will find him-" she suddenly grabbed him by the shoulders and held him tightly, "- sever ALL the arteries in his body. find YOU, oh messenger, and hang you by your arms and legs on a tree with the man you blindly follow orders from, and then let all the birds in Monstreial feast on your flesh. Do I make myself clear? Need I repeat myself with worse consequences?"
The man whimpered with a pathetic expression and nodded his head, "Y-yes ma'am..."
"Good, then get out!" Ingrid pushed the chair over, causing him to tumble onto the ground, "Go and pull the rest of your friends back home, but I swear, if you even try to lie to the authorities of what happened, I will simply have to remove your mandibles!"
With another stumble, the man ran to the three other thugs and started pulling them out. When he eventually dragged them out and disappeared from the window, Ingrid returned her attention to her guest.
"I am very sorry that you had to experience that, miss," the woman said apologetically with her head and arms hanging down, with her hands cupped one over the other, "They were unlucky children, brought up in the wrong light and follow after a person who is the same way. Products of the environment. This city is just a breeding ground for them." A sigh escaped her lips as she moved back to the kitchen, "If you'll excuse me, I'll be making your breakfast, and then I'll wipe up the mess they left behind." She motioned her hand to the weapons they had left behind, "If... you could hide those before any more guests come in, I would be grateful."
